Councillor Morton raised the issue of youth engagement and the potential for future career opportunities.

Paul Robertson provided an update on behalf of Police Scotland in regard to the appoint of new personnel in the division and a profile around the anti social behaviour under Operation Code, a joint initiative involving British Transport Police, MoD, Police Scotland and Social Work.  He also spoke about issues with military personnel reported in the local media involving licenced premises.  A partnership approach was adopted and appeared to be working well.  He also touched on joint working with SFRS in the lead up to Bonfire night and the focus on traffic complaints from members of the public with road stop and speeding checks.  The festive campaign would again bring focus to responsible conduct on licensed premises.  An update was also given on the financial impacts with a focus on modernisation of the service that had an impact on the police estate.   Youth engagement work and the national park.  Mary Haggerty raised an issue about wild camping on the old torpedo range opposite Arrochar.  For consideration of patrol during the proactive joint initiatives between PS and National Park Rangers.

Discussion from elected members about speeding complaints at Colgrain and around local schools.  Peninsula and Kilcreggan also mentioned as problematic locations for speeding and increased vehicle volume.

ACTION – Police Scotland:  Proactive patrol of torpedo range site (officers have been deployed to monitor this and will do so in the future)
