Report by Executive Director with responsibility for Legal and Regulatory Support

The Council gave consideration to a report providing an update on feedback received following a second phase of 8-week public consultation on the proposals to amend the local Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils.

Decision

The Council –

1.    noted the feedback contained at Appendix 4 which related to increasing grant allocations;

2.    agreed to refer the setting of the administration grant levels for 2026-2030 to the Council’s budget meeting in February 2026; and

3.    approved the final proposed amended Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils in Argyll and Bute for the 2026-2030 term at appendix 1 to the submitted report; the amended Best Practice Guidance 2026-2030 at appendix 2 to the submitted report; the boundaries for community councils for term 2026-2030 at appendix 3 to the submitted report; noting that these would take effect as of 26 August 2026.
