FREEDOM OF ARGYLL AND BUTE

Under Section 206 of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973, the Council will be asked to pass a resolution to award the Freedom of Argyll and Bute upon the Royal Regiment of Scotland (SCOTS) in recognition of its ongoing contribution, service, dedication and support at both national and local levels.

The Council, at its meeting on Thursday 24 April 2025 unanimously resolved in terms of Section 206 of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973, to confer the Freedom of Argyll and Bute on the Royal Regiment of Scotland (SCOTS) in recognition of its ongoing contribution, service, dedication and support at both national and local levels.

 

In fulfilment of that resolution, the Council now granted the Freedom of Argyll and Bute which was conveyed by the Provost in the following terms:-

 

To The Royal Regiment of Scotland (SCOTS)

 

We, the Members of Argyll and Bute Council now grant the Freedom of Argyll and Bute to The Royal Regiment of Scotland (SCOTS) in recognition of its ongoing contribution, service, dedication and support at both national and local levels. Permission to exercise this Freedom is given under the seal of the Council on this Twentieth day of September, Two Thousand and Twenty Five.

 

The Royal Regiment of Scotland (SCOTS) having accepted the scroll conveying the Freedom grant, the Provost on behalf of the Council, granted permission for The Royal Regiment of Scotland (SCOTS) to exercise the Freedom.
