Mhairi Gardiner, Development Officer gave a brief verbal update on the position with the current applications.  As noted previously an application has been submitted to assist with the costs of the remedial works required in the Wood.  Mhairi advised that the Council has also submitted an application for Sustainable Management of Forest Funding and that this was an annual payment of £1119.90 covering the period from 2010 to 2024.  It was noted that funding awards were retrospective.

 

Decision

 

The Committee noted the update and that updates would be provided to future meetings.

Minutes:

Mhairi Gardiner, Development Officer gave a brief verbal update regarding two funding applications that had been submitted to the Forestry Commission, Sustainable Management of Forestry Grant which would be used for routine maintenance. A further grant application, Woodland Improvement, would be submitted in due course. If awarded The Woodland Improvement Grant would be used for capital items, such as the tree safety survey. Mhairi confirmed that both funding streams would involve retrospective payments.

 

Decision

 

1.          To establish the term of the Sustainable Management of Forestry Grant.

 

2.          That the outcome from the applications be reported to a future meeting of the Committee.

Update on WIAT Funding

Minutes:

Mhairi Gardiner, Development Officer gave a brief  verbal update on the WIAT advising that she had been liaising with David Lewin (FODW) regarding Forestry Commission (FC) funding.  She had advised David that FC funding was now fully committed until April 2020 and that this would be the earliest that any funds utilised could be claimed back.

 

Mhairi invited the Committee to agree to use around £700 from the Urban Woodland Management Plan (UWMP) monies to enable a survey to be carried out, advising that a procurement process would require to be undertaken by the council.  She confirmed that the funds used would be claimed back.

 

Decision

 

The Committee agreed to authorise the use of approximately £700 for the purposes of conducting a site survey, noting that the expenditure could be reclaimed from 1st April 2020.
