Car Parking in Bus Stops at Mustering Area - Dunoon Pier

Verbal update by Community Transport Officer and Traffic and Development Officer, Argyll and Bute Council.

Minutes:

Argyll and Bute Council’s Contracts Manager advised of plans which were being worked on to formalise the area.  Mr McIntosh advised that better disabled access; realignment of the portacabin and the extension of the drop off zone featured within the plans, which are being taken forward by the Council’s Development and Infrastructure Service.  General discussion took place in respect of the obstructions caused, and in particular, by taxis.  The Community Governance Manager agreed to draft a letter to the licensing authority regarding this issue on behalf of the forum.

 

The Community Transport Officer advised that there would be no bus service running during the festive season due to budget restraints.  Mr Arnold agreed to look into the possibility of obtaining funding from Transport Scotland for the 2017 festive season.

 

Outcome:

 

The Forum agreed to note the updates provided by the Council’s Contracts Manager and Community Transport Officer.

Minutes:

The Community Transport Officer informed the Group that currently there is an issue with cars parking in the bus stops at the mustering area of Dunoon Pier and that they have contacted the legal department to write to the taxi companies.

 

It was noted that the issue was not just taxis but also cars using the area.

The Forum held a discussion regarding whether this area was included in the parking review which is currently out to public consultation.

 

The Community Transport Officer also informed the Group that McGills were currently looking at a reduced fare for people using the Glasgow service for local journeys and he will report back to the forum when an update on this is available.

 

Action

1.    Councillor McNaughton will raise this issue at the Bute and Cowal Business Day on the 6th September 2016.

2.    Community Governance Manager to raise Item with roads department regarding clarification on what enforcement can be put in place and if the parking review will have any impact on this situation.
