Verbal update by Scottish Fire and Rescue Representative.

The forum gave consideration to an update by Verina Litster of Scottish Fire and Rescue.  Ms Litster spoke of the success of the recent Biker Down campaign, which took place in Oban targeting motorcyclists from all over the area.  She advised that there were four people from the Cowal area in attendance.  Ms Litster further advised that a new course would be run in the new year. 

Outcome:

The Forum agreed to note the information provided.

Action

Verina Litster on behalf of Scottish fire and Rescue requested that the Forum raise a congestion issue caused by parking on both sides of the road in Edward Street, Dunoon with the Roads department as this could impede on Scottish Fire and Rescue being able to get an appliance through that stretch of road.

Derek Wilson and Verina Litster from Scottish Fire and Rescue provided the Forum with a verbal update, the following points were included:

·         Scottish Fire and Rescue are implementing a variety of methods to help reduce road traffic accidents.

·         Work is currently being undertaken through the Argyll Safety Partnership.

·         Verina is the appointed person for taking road safety forward.

·         A two day event is taking place with a real time crash scenario in Dunoon Stadium on the 5^th May 2016 at 11am, is open to all, and  pupils from Dunoon Grammar School will be invited. The second day of the event will concentrate on fire safety.
