Verbal update by Public Transport Officer and Transport Scotland

Douglas Blades updated the Forum on the A83 turning circle, and advised that as previously reported the tenders had come in at two to three times more than originally thought consequently, there is insufficient funding within the original budget from S.P.T. to complete the work.

There is currently a bid lodged with the Bus Investment Fund for further money and it is hoped that this will be fruitful.

Outcome

The forum will wait for the outcome of the proposed bid and then look at alternative options depending on the result of the bid.

Douglas Blades updated the Forum on the A83 turning circle land and advised that 5 people have been invited to tender.  He advised that this will not be completed now until July 2015 as the levels and depths had proven to be much more difficult from an engineering and cost perspective than previously thought    Douglas agreed to keep the forum informed.

Verbal update from Public Transport Officer

Douglas Blades, the Council’s Transport Officer advised the Forum that the A83 turning circle land has now been purchased and the Tender for the works has been issued and Won.  The tender is currently in its 10 day standstill period and after that completes it is hoped that work will quickly commence, weather permitting

The Forum had a discussion on available additional parking at the site and who was likely to use the Forestry Commission car park. .Douglas Blades agreed to contact David Robertson from Forestry Commission Scotland to confirm that the existing car park will still be able to be used in the future.

Douglas Blades agreed to email round a copy of the plan for the A83 turning circle to all members of the Forum.
