POLICE SCOTLAND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT TEAM

Verbal update by Inspector Boyle, Police Scotland

Minutes:

The Group considered a verbal update from Sergeant Marcus Littlejohn, Police Scotland, in relation to the work of the Police Scotland Community Engagement Team.

 

Sergeant Littlejohn advised that the Community Engagement Team and a Problem Solving Team had been created as a result of a restructure of community policing within Police Scotland, providing details of the aims of the Team and specialisms involved. He outlined information around a number of projects which the Team were involved in, particularly highlighting a recent online fraud event which had been hosted by Argyll TSI.

 

Sergeant Littlejohn confirmed that the Team could look at bicycle marking in Helensburgh in the future.

 

Following a query around when support and events could return on a face-to-face basis, PC Evans confirmed that this would be a decision made at a national level in line with the easing of restrictions and in the interim she would be happy to assist with anything required.

Police Inspector Mo Boyle updated the Group on the positon of the Police Scotland Community Engagement Team. The Group noted that the new team, comprising of a Problem Solving and Community Engagement section, aimed to delivering priorities under the Local Policing Plan via a range of specialist officers who were looking to add value through new engagements and partnership working including a fraud awareness event due to take place online at 2.30pm on 18 May 2021.

The Group considered a verbal update from Inspector Mo Boyle, Police Scotland, in relation to the work of the Police Scotland Community Engagement Team.

 

Inspector Boyle advised that the Police Scotland Community Engagement Team had been created following a restructuring of the West Dunbartonshire division to create two new teams – a Community Engagement Team and a Problem Solving Team. This had allowed additional resource as both teams could also be deployed across the Argyll and Bute area.

 

Inspector Boyle outlined the specialist roles and officers involved with the team and advised that the Team would be looking for opportunities to add value to partnership activities; create new partnerships; and work on delivering police plan priorities which aligned closely with Argyll and Bute’s Outcome Improvement Plan priorities. Inspector Boyle provided an update on the work which had been carried out by the Team so far and encouraged partners to attend an online fraud awareness event being hosted by Argyll TSI on the 18th of May 2021 at 2:30pm, details of which had been circulated to partners via Basecamp.
