The Chair, Councillor Armour, thanked his fellow Councillors for their support and contributions during his time as Chair of the Campbeltown Common Good Fund. He noted his pleasure that the projects supported by the Fund had provided a lot of benefit to the community. He further thanked Committee Services for their efforts and hard work behind the scenes. 

 

Councillor Armour’s sentiments were echoed by Councillors Colville and Kelly, who also thanked Councillor Armour for his time and effort as Chair.

Discussion took place around the level of funding which was being requested by organisations. It was agreed that all applicants should be informed that Members would not generally consider applications for funding in excess of £2,000.00.

 

Discussion took place around the set-up of the Campbeltown Common Good Fund in comparison to the Oban Common Good Fund, with particular reference to community representation. The Committee Manager confirmed that the two Common Good Funds operated under different regulations, and Members agreed that they were satisfied with the current set-up of the Campbeltown Common Good Fund.

The Chair advised that the Campbeltown Common Good Fund had been thanked for their contribution to the Robert Black Memorial Helipad at the opening reception event, and had been provided with a plaque. It was agreed that the Chair would forward a photograph of the plaque to the Committee Manager to be shared with the Press team. Discussion took place around where the plaque should be kept and it was agreed that it could be donated to the Museum in future.

The Committee Manager advised that the contract for provision of accountancy services for the Fund was due for renewal, noting that there was a clause in the current contract which gives the option to extend the contract for one additional year. The current contract provides for services to both the Campbeltown and Oban Common Good Funds. The Members agreed with the principle of utilising the contract extension provision with the tender being issued in 2022, subject to this being agreed by the Trustees of the Oban Common Good Fund.

Following a decline in the number of applications for funding received by the Campbeltown Common Good Fund, it was agreed that the Committee Manager would liaise with the Communications team to publicise the Campbeltown Common Good Fund in advance of the next meeting in June.
