style=\"line-height: normal; background-image: initial; background-position: initial; background-size: initial; background-repeat: initial; background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\">Any two persons, regardless of where they live, may register a civil partnership in Scotland provided that:<\/span><\/p><ul style=\"margin-top: 0cm;\" type=\"disc\"><li class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; line-height: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;\">both persons, are at least 16 years of age on the day they wish to register their civil partnership.<\/span><\/li><li class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; line-height: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;\">They are not related to one another in a way that would prevent them registering their civil partnership.<\/span><\/li><li class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; line-height: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;\">Each is unmarried and not already registered as a civil partner (any person who has already been married or registered as a civil partner must produce documentary evidence that the previous marriage or civil partnership registration has ended by death, divorce, annulment or dissolution),<\/span><\/li><li class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt; line-height: normal;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; font-family: 'Arial',sans-serif; mso-fareast-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-fareast-language: EN-GB;\">They are capable of understanding the nature of civil partnership<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-f1edbb3\" data-id=\"f1edbb3\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-933e80e elementor-widget elementor-widget-image\" data-id=\"933e80e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" register a Civil Partnership in Scotland?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a1f3fe2 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"a1f3fe2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>A civil partnership\u00a0may be registered by a District or Assistant Registrar or a religious or belief celebrant who has been authorised by the\u00a0Registrar General for that purpose or whose religious or belief body has been prescribed in regulations under the Civil Partnership Act 2004.\u00a0 The registration of a civil partnership by a district registrar or an assistant registrar may take place either in a registration office or in a place that the local authority agrees to.\u00a0 Therefore, it is important that you should contact as early as possible the registrar for the registration district in which you want to register your civil partnership.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-99c8a1d elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" Partnership Paperwork<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4da7f24 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4da7f24\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>By law both parties to a proposed civil partnership registration in Scotland are required to submit civil partnership notice forms to the Registrar of the district in which the civil partnership registration is to take place informing them of their intention to form a civil partnership.<\/p><p>Forms and guidance for giving notice can be obtained from any Registration Office in Argyll and Bute. You will each require a CP10 registration form, guidance notes are also available and a form for your witnesses. All forms can be found on our\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.argyll-bute.gov.uk\/marriage\/2022\/02\/15\/civil-partnership-paperwork\/\" data-cke-saved-href=\"http:\/\/www.argyll-bute.gov.uk\/marriage\/content\/civil-partnership-paperwork#overlay-context=content\/civil-partnership-paperwork\">All forms can be found on our website<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nrscotland.gov.uk\/registration\/registering-civil-partnership-in-scotland\" data-cke-saved-href=\"http:\/\/www.nrscotland.gov.uk\/registration\/registering-civil-partnership-in-scotland\">National Records of\u00a0Scotland Website<\/a>\u00a0or your Registrar can email the paperwork to you.<\/p><p>Notice must be given in the three-month period prior to the date of the civil partnership registration and\u00a0<strong>NOT LATER THAN\u00a029 DAYS BEFORE THAT DATE<\/strong>.\u00a0 If you intend to lodge Notice in person please contact the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.argyll-bute.gov.uk\/births-deaths-and-marriages\/registration-offices-contact-information\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-cke-saved-href=\"http:\/\/www.argyll-bute.gov.uk\/births-deaths-and-marriages\/registration-offices-contact-information\">local Registrar<\/a>\u00a0before doing so as an appointment may be required. The notices must be submitted early enough to enable the registrar to satisfy themself that you are free to register a civil partnership. Normally notices should with the registrar about\u00a010-12 weeks. The minimum period is\u00a029 days before the civil partnership, but if you leave things late you could be faced with the need to postpone your civil partnership registration.<\/li><li>Although both parties do not need to attend personally to hand in your civil partnership notice, at least one of you may be asked to attend personally before the date of the civil partnership registration. Holders of relevant marriage visas (such as a marriage visitor visa or fianc\u00e9 visa) or those with an appropriate immigration status (exemption from immigration control or settled in the UK) are exempt from referral to the Home Office.<\/p><p>However EEA citizens with<\/p><ul><li>an immigration status granted under the EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) or<\/li><li>a pending application to the EUSS, or<\/li><li>Irish citizens<\/li><\/ul><p>are\u00a0exempt from the referral scheme.\u00a0 These groups also remain exempt from the requirement for a mandatory marriage visitor visa if they are travelling to the UK for that purpose.<\/p><p>EEA citizens (with the exception of Irish nationals)\u00a0are no longer be able to use their national ID card as evidence of nationality when giving registration options &#8211; Registration Option and Ceremonial have a ceremony they can opt to meet with the registrar to check and sign the Schedule in the presence of the registrar and two witnesses.\u00a0 No ceremony would be carried option would give the couple the same options as with a civil marriage, the ceremony can be held within the registration office, venue or a location agreed with the
