Help for Children and Young People

Welcome to your page which is full of information about what to do if you’re worried about yourself or others being harmed.

I am scared I will make things worse if I tell

Living with somebody who is abusive or neglects you is scary.  You might be worried about:

  • When you will get abused next
  • When the next argument will start
  • A younger brother or sister being getting hurt
  • A grown up in the family getting hurt too
  • Parents/carers getting away with it and the abuse continuing
  • Friends or neighbours finding out
  • Being taken away from home
  • Getting  into trouble if you talk to someone

If you are worried about any of these things there are people who can help. When it's too difficult to tell someone you know, you can call Childline. Calls are private and don't even show up on any phone bills.

The staff will listen and help.  They will talk you through all the things you can do to make things better.  They won’t make you do anything you don’t want to.  They won’t make you say anything you’re not ready to.  They will help you start to make things better for yourself.
