The Friends of Hermitage Park need your help!
The Hermitage Park project began in 2010 when a few local residents expressed concern about the deterioration of the park. They set about reversing this decline through monthly Action Days, and while improvements were made they were not enough.
In 2011 the group approached the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) and submitted a preliminary application for funding. The HLF responded positively and the Friends were encouraged to form themselves into a registered charity, which they did.
Argyll and Bute Council in partnership with the Friends developed and submitted a successful Stage 1 application in August 2013. In January 2014 funding was awarded for the preparation of a Stage 2 bid and a design team were engaged to help draw up plans for the rejuvenation and upgrading of Hermitage Park. In addition, a Park Development Officer was appointed and together with the Friends developed and submitted in September 2015 a successful HLF Stage 2 bid worth £3.1million. The Friends have successfully raised £20,000 towards this and have a commitment to raising over £80,000 of volunteer time by 2021.
The Friends are committed to raising more funds for the long term sustainability of Hermitage Park. They have set up a Hermitage Park Development Fund to ensure the park's future development, and you can help achieve this as a Friend of Hermitage Park
