What is an Equality Impact Assessment?

We have a legal responsibility, under the Equality Act 2010, to promote equality of opportunity.  When developing, changing or reviewing plans, policies and proposals officers are required to assess the impact. This could be positive or negative.  Impact should be considered in relation to the nine protected characteristics  – age, disability, race, religion or belief, sex, gender reassignment, pregnancy and maternity and sexual orientation. This is done using an Equality Impact Assessment Toolkit.

Equality Impact Assessment Toolkit

The Equality Impact Assessment Toolkit has been developed to help our decision makers place equality at the centre of any policies and plans.

The Equality Impact Assessment Toolkit helps to assess the impact of our services and policies on the diverse groups of people within Argyll and Bute.  The Toolkit will also enable us to maximise opportunities to promote equality and good relations between groups.
