Argyll and Bute is one of three council areas that has been awarded Scottish Government funding for trauma training funding to support the development of a trauma informed workforce. There has already been significant work undertaken in relation to ACEs (adverse childhood experiences) in Argyll and Bute. This additional funding enables an extensive training programme to be delivered across the authority in 2020, supporting the ACEs agenda and helping embed trauma informed, skilled and enhanced practices across our children’s services workforce groups.

The conference launched this exciting workforce development programme. It brought together speakers from a range of backgrounds who have had experience of driving this national agenda and navigating their way through trauma informed service developments and delivery. Participants had the opportunity to consider how workers, staff team/s and services can utilise this programme to help them deliver trauma informed practice within universal and specialist services, to enhance good care and address the barriers that those affected by trauma can experience.
