Coronavirus – Changes to Alcohol Licensing

The Coronavirus (Scotland) Act 2020 has introduced changes to the licensing process which mainly relate to the extension of timescales.  A summary of these changes can be found here.  If you have any queries, please contact the licensing board team by e-mail at licensing@argyll-bute.gov.uk or by phone on 01546 604128.

Coronavirus – Companies House Support for Businesses

Businesses will be given additional support to help them meet their legal responsibilities under changes announced on 16th April.  Companies House will temporarily pause the strike off process to prevent companies being dissolved.  Further information can be found on the gov.uk website - Companies House Support.

Coronavirus – Furlough Scheme Extension

Thousands more employees will be able to receive support through the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) after the eligibility date was extended to 19 March 2020, the government announced on 16th April.  Further information can be found on the gov.uk website - Furlough Scheme.

Coronavirus – Licensing Standards Inspections 2020/21

As a result of Coronavirus and following Government advice, Licensing Standards officers will not carry out the routine physical inspections of licensed premises for the foreseeable future.   Those premises scheduled for a physical inspection may be contacted by telephone, e-mail or social media. 

Consultation on Statement of Licensing Policy

The Argyll and Bute Licensing Board is now consulting on the terms of its draft Statement of Licensing Policy. The Board is required to prepare and publish a Statement of Licensing Policy in respect of each licensing policy period in relation to the exercise of its functions under the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005. The consultation closing date has now been extended to 5pm on Friday 15th May 2020.

Just because a story appears online, doesn’t mean it is true. The internet is great, but it can also be used to spread misleading news and content.  Protect yourself and your friends from false information about coronavirus. Use the SHARE checklist (Source, Headline, Analyse, Retouched, Error) to make sure you don't feed the beast.  Find out more from HM Government.

Police Scotland – Feedback Wanted

Individuals and business owners are being invited to complete a survey from Police Scotland to track public confidence levels and experience of approaches to policing during the Covid-19 Pandemic. The survey is a platform for your views and opinions during these challenging times, and beyond.
