Consultation background

Estimates show that Argyll and Bute Council must prepare to meet a funding gap in 2021/22 of nearly £6.7 million.

As part of this, council services are looking at whether they can work differently, together or with partners, based on different areas of work. You can read more about this on our website.

This includes reviewing the best options for delivering sustainable bus services: the council provides a range of transport services, including a number of bus services across the area.

To do this we are working with experts in transport planning, Stantec, who are gathering views from council services, as well as local and national partners, and will draw on effective, up-to-date practice elsewhere to identify options for Argyll and Bute.

While we will look for area-wide solutions, we also recognise that one-size does not necessarily fit all – so hearing the views of local people and communities is another key step in this review process.
