This consultation is now closed - many thanks to everyone who took part and gave us their views
Your views are sought on the emerging proposals to designate a conservation area to cover part of Helensburgh Town Centre.
Conservation areas are designated under the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) (Scotland) Act 1997.
Conservation areas are areas which have special architectural or historic interest that are considered worthy of protection. It is the character of an area, either architectural or historical, created by buildings and open spaces and their relationship with one another which the designation of a conservation area seeks to preserve.
All planning authorities are required from time to time to determine which areas in their district meet the criteria for designation as an area of special architectural or historic interest. In this case part of Helensburgh’s town centre is being considered, and the views of people who live and work there are being sought.
The designation of a Helensburgh Town Centre Conservation Area is therefore subject to public consultation for a 6-week period between:
- 1st May and 12th June.
