When you have a new baby there are a number of government departments and council services you need to tell. Until now all these departments have had to be told separately. The Tell Us Once service will help you cut down the number of local and central government departments that new parents have to contact.
When you come into your local Servicepoint to register a birth you will automatically be offered Tell Us Once.
When you sign up to Tell Us Once we will tell these council services:
- Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction
- Social Work (Adult and Children Services)
- Family Information Services
We can also contact the following agencies, if you ask us to:
- Department of Work and Pensions
- Income Support
- Job Seeker Allowance
- Incapacity Benefit
- Child Tax Credit
- Working Tax Credit
- Child Benefit
You will need to give us up-to-date information to make sure that we pass on the correct details to the other agencies we contact on your behalf. Please make sure you bring with you
- Parent(s) National Insurance number
- Birth Certificate, given at registration of birth
- Completed Child Benefit Form
To use this FREE service please contact your Local Registrar
