It depicts a landscape with an ominous black foreground of an ascending hill, with a hint of green on the top edge of the slope, with silhouettes of some trees and posts. The landscape fades off in shades of grey, into a background of receding mountains and grey sky.<\/p><\/div><\/section><section class=\"block block-layout-builder block-field-blocknodeartworkfield-artist-info clearfix\"><h2 class=\"block-title\">About the artist<\/h2><div class=\"field field--name-field-artist-info field--type-text-long field--label-hidden field--item\"><p>Norman Ackroyd RA (born 1938), studied at Leeds College of Art and The Royal College of Art, London. He is one of Britain&#8217;s foremost landscape artists and contemporary printmakers working today. He is known primarily for his monochromatic aquatints. Depending on the locale, atmospheric conditions and intended mood, his compositions are minimalist, giving an abstract, sometimes geometric impression. Often they depict or suggest naturalistic elements, e.g., hills, clouds, rainbows. Even when depicting rainbows, Ackroyd uses colour only very sparingly.
