About the artist

Bel Cowie (born Dundee 1943-1983) trained at Gray’s School of Art and Ceramische Fachschule, Berne. She is best known for her screen prints, and her work reveals a fascination with Japanese prints and weaving designs. Cowie was the director of Peacock Printmakers and an active member of SSA, of which she was a member. She exhibited widely through various exhibitions including RSA, RSW and Compass Gallery, Glasgow.
