About the artist

Blair Hughes-Stanton (born London, 1902-1981) was a major figure in the English wood engraving revival in the twentieth century. He was a founding member of the English Wood Engraving Society in 1925, and co-directed the Greynog Press from 1930 to 1933 with his wife, Getrude Hermes.
