About the artwork
Kintyre landscape, with a leafless tree in the foreground, and receding view of trees, road and fields, with a setting sun and buildings in the background. Painted circa 1950-1960. Representing the main Tarbert to Campbeltown road, it is painted on a wintry day, when the sun is weak and low in the sky.
About the artist
Danny Ferguson RSW RGI (born Lanarkshire, 1910-1993) studied and taught at Glasgow School of Art. He exhibited widely across Scotland and is regarded as an outstanding draughtsman. He painted landscapes, still lifes, interiors and self portraits.
