Planned resurfacing works at Red Lodge near Kilmory Last updated: 11 Apr 2014 - 11:21 (originally posted: 11 Apr 2014 - 11:21)

Bear Scotland have advised of planned overnight road closures at the Red Lodge, near Kilmory, Lochgilphead for resurfacing works to be completed.

The overnight works to renew the existing road surface and associated road markings will take place on two nights - Wednesday 23rd April and Thursday 24th April between 9pm and 6am, with the route scheduled to reopen early on the morning of Friday 25th April.

It is necessary to close the road while the works are being undertaken to ensure the safety of the workforce and travelling public.

A signed diversion route will be in place through Oban via the A819, A85 and A816. It is advisable to allow extra time for travel.

Queuing traffic will occasionally be escorted through the works in a convoy when it is safe to do so at approximately two hourly intervals. Convoy times are estimated at 23:00hrs, 01:00hrs and 03:00hrs. These times may vary slightly depending on the progress of the works.  Queuing traffic will also be allowed through at 05:00hrs to allow road users heading for the Islay ferry service departing from Kennacraig to make the final check-in time at 6.30am.

Due to the potential length of time between opportunities to pass through the works, drivers are encouraged to use the alternative signed diversion route.

During the day, outwith the overnight working hours, temporary traffic signals will be in operation with a 30mph speed limit in force to ensure that vehicles can safely pass through the temporary works site.

If the works cannot be carried out due to adverse weather conditions, the road will be available as normal. Should the works be delayed due to the weather, they will be rescheduled for the earliest practicable opportunity.
