Provost Len Scoullar gave his support at the launch of this year's Highlands and Islands Music and Dance Festival.
The festival takes place in Oban from Friday 3 May to Sunday 5 May.
This year the Festival celebrates its 36th anniversary and the event was celebrated in a Civic Reception hosted by Provost Scoullar in the Regent Hotel this week.
Provost Scoullar said:
“It is always a pleasure to visit the towns in Argyll and Bute and hear about, and support the vibrant cultural events taking place, and the Oban Highlands and Islands Festival has certainly earned a firm place in the annual calendar for its contribution to promoting music and dance for young people."
