An extract from the Minute of the Council meeting held on 23 January 2014 which detailed the agreement to set up the Short Life Working Group; along with the accompanying report providing background information on proposals for taking forward an island initiative for Argyll and Bute were considered.

 

Decision

 

The Short Life Working Group noted the extract and report which detailed the terms of reference of the Group and this would allow them to identify –

 

1.      The objectives of the Group;

2.      what needs to be done to meet those objectives;

3.      who will carry out the actions to meet the objectives;

4.      a timeline by which the objectives could be achieved.

Minutes:

 

The Short Life Working Group considered a report which provided statistical information with regards to island population and which outlined a number of issues and challenges that face the islands in Argyll and Bute.

 

Decision

 

The Short Life Working Group -

 

1.      Requested the Head of Economic Development to consult with the Communications Team with a view to producing a press release promoting the existence of the Short Life Working Group and its objectives.

 

2.      Requested the Head of Economic Development to consult with the Communications Team regarding a suitable name change for the Short Life Working Group.

 

3.      Accepted the issues outlined at 2.0 of the report as overarching issues for the islands of Argyll and Bute with the addition of Health and the lack of promotion of success stories; and agreed that the Head of Economic Development would provide a list of specific issues relating to each island for the next meeting.

 

4.      Agreed that the next meeting of the Group would be held on 13 May 2014 at 10.30am.
