CIVIC GOVERNMENT (SCOTLAND) ACT 1982: APPLICATION FOR GRANT OF TAXI DRIVER'S LICENCE (C MARR, DUNOON)

Minutes:

The Chair introduced himself and invited those present at the meeting to do likewise and then outlined the procedure that would be followed.

The Chair then invited the Applicant to speak in support of her application.

Applicant

Ms Marr advised that when she filled in her application form she spoke with someone from the taxi business and explained about her speeding ticket and asked if it would be necessary to disclose this on the application form.  The person she spoke to advised that as the fine was so long ago he did not think that it would need to be declared.  She apologised for not including this information on her application form and advised that this was genuine accident on her part.

The Chair invited the Police to ask the Applicant questions and Inspector Armstrong confirmed that he had no questions.

The Chair then invited Inspector Armstrong to speak.

Police

Inspector Armstrong referred to Strathclyde Police’s observation that the Applicant had not declared her speeding fine of May 2003 on her application form.  He advised that the Applicant received the fine not long after she had received her full drivers license over 9 years ago and that there was no record of anything further since that time.

The Chair invited the Applicant to ask the Police questions and Ms Marr confirmed that she had no questions.

The Chair then invited Members to ask the Applicant and the Police questions and they confirmed that they had no questions.

The Chair invited the Police and the Applicant to sum up and they both confirmed that they had nothing further to add.

The Chair invited the Applicant and the Police to confirm that they had received a fair hearing and both confirmed that this had been the case.

Decision

It was unanimously agreed to grant a Taxi Driver’s Licence to Ms Marr.
