PARTNER UPDATES

Opportunity for verbal updates by Community Planning Partners.

Minutes:

The Group heard verbal updates from the following partners:

 

Scottish Fire and Rescue

 

Derek Wilson of Scottish Fire and Rescue gave an update to the Group on the Argyll and Bute Casualty Induction Plan, which covers the number of non fatal related fire injuries, main causes of accidental fires and advised his aim is to reduce this and make people feel safe from fires.  He advised he plans to get in touch with groups to raise awareness.

 

He updated the Group on the number of projects that Scottish Fire and Rescue are involved in from the Cut it Out Project, Safe Road Users, British Heart Foundation where CPR equipment is now available in the Fire Station so they can train themselves, the launch was on 16th October.

 

Mr Wilson advised that home fire safety visits are free and that there is an online form you can fill in for a home fire safety visit where you can also get free family cinema tickets for Oban Phoenix Cinema between 20th – 19th December.

The Group heard verbal updates from the following partners:

 

Scottish Fire and Rescue

 

Martin Hill advised the Group that Scottish Fire and Rescue will be featuring strongly in the discussion of outcome 6 at the November meeting where he will provide a full update.

 

Argyll Voluntary Action

 

The AVA representative advised the Group that Argyll and Bute now have a new third sector interface which became operational from the 1st August 2015.

 

She confirmed that they are now recruiting for a 3rd Sector Officer and there is a new board of trustees.

 

Rona suggested that there be less paperwork for the Community Planning Group meetings and more executive summaries as it would get more of a public involvement.

The Group heard verbal updates from the following partners:

 

Scottish Fire and Rescue

The Area Commander had submitted apologies for the meeting so therefore no update was provided.

 

Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park

The representative from Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park having left the meeting early provided an email update post meeting to inform the Group of the following two points:

  • Live Park – new NP Local Development Plan: final public consultation has closed and new Plan will come to the National Park Board for approval in the Autumn.
  • Your Park – new camping management zones and bye-laws: this proposal is now with Scottish Ministers for decision.

Scottish Health Council

A representative from the Scottish Health Council was not present at the meeting, so therefore no update was provided.

 

Argyll Voluntary Action

The AVA representative having left the meeting early provided an email update post meeting to inform the Group that Argyll and Bute now have a new third sector interface which became operational from the 1st August 2015.

Bute and Cowal Community CAUCUS

The Chair of the Bute and Cowal Community CAUCUS updated the Group on the following queries raised at the last Bute and Cowal Community CAUCUS meeting:

 

·        Parking Policy – Concerns were raised regarding the new proposed parking policy and how this will affect residents and businesses in Bute and Cowal.

The Area Governance officer informed the Group that the parking policy was still in the consultation process and items for inclusion in that consultation should be raised through Elected Members

·        Amenity Service – Concerns were raised regarding Argyll and Bute Council’s financial constraints on grass cutting and general grounds maintenance.

·        Community Benefits – Bute and Cowal Community CAUCUS would like to engage with the Procurement Team in order to gage further information on Community Benefits.

·        Boundary Changes – Concerns were raised regarding proposals by the Boundary Commission that will affect the current geographical layout of the Bute and Cowal Wards.

Meeting: 12/05/2015 - Bute and Cowal Community Planning Group (Item 11)

PARTNER UPDATES

Opportunity for verbal updates by Community Planning Partners.

Minutes:

The Group heard verbal updates from the following partners:

 

Police Scotland

The Chief Inspector provided the group with an area performance update, with the following noted:

·         Anti Social Behaviour Orders have substantially decreased across Argyll in Bute from 76 in 2014 to 54 in 2015.

·         Assaults: Cowal – 19 in 2014 decreased to 6 in 2015 year to date. Bute – 12 in 2014 decreased to 6 in 2015.

·         Domestic Assaults: Bute and Cowal increase from 8 in 2014 to 12 in 2015.

·         Overall Crime: 20% decrease in 2015 across the whole of Argyll and Bute.

·         Activities taking place in the area include:- Police 5 a side tournament in June 2015, Police Station open day on the 13th June 2015, providing support for the PA23 BID events throughout the year, as well as other annual events such as Kirn Gala and the Cowal Highland Gathering.

Scottish Fire and Rescue

The Area Commander provided a verbal update on the following:

·         There were 52 false alarm call outs in Bute and Cowal between January and March 2015.

·         There were 15 Special Service calls in Bute and Cowal between January and March 2015.

·         101 Home fire safety visits were carried out in the Cowal area between January and March 2015.

·         Scottish Fire and Rescue are currently visiting schools in the local area to promote awareness of road traffic accidents.

·         It was noted that the group can contact David Cowley regarding requests for general statistics.

Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park

A representative from the National Park informed the Group that the National Park were currently consulting on their national plan between May and June of this year.

A discussion also took place regarding Park grants with refernce to the amount of funding available and who was eligible to apply.

Scottish Health Council

A representative from the Scottish Health Council informed the Group that papers would be circulated electronically through the Senior Area Committee Assistant on the consultation process regarding the Model of support for people living with advanced dementia.

Argyll Voluntary Action

An AVA representative informed the Group that they were currently going through a partnership review and merger process which should be concluded by the end of June and will result in one third sector interface.
