SCOTTISH WATER
:
Minutes:
Councillor
Kelly highlighted again the ongoing issue in the sewage line between
Machrihanish and Campbeltown. Dry weather seemed to accelerate the odour
which emanated from the sewage line.
Susan Paterson
informed the group of the continuing issues in Southend with water bursts and
questioned the rationale by Scottish Water in replacing a limited section of
pipework.
Alan Reid
replied that it was mandatory that Scottish Water provide an adequate water
supply and Argyll and Bute Council should oversee this.
Action:
Jamie McGrigor agreed to write directly to Scottish Water in regards the water
quality provision and it was agreed to request suitable representation by
Scottish Water at the next meeting.
Action: It was also agreed to invite a representative from Roads and Amenity Services to comment on the requirement to continually dig up parts of the roads in order to fix these leaks.

:
Minutes:
The Chair reported that Scottish Water had
authorised water mains replacement at Southend and
this had been passed to their Capital Investment Delivery team. Work was being undertaken on the project
scope, which they envisaged would cover an area of around 2km. Once the scope had been agreed, the next step
would be the design and cost being submitted for final approval. Scottish Water would notify the local
Community in Southend as progress is made on this and
advise of the commencment date and agreed timetable.
Susan Paterson queried the exact location
of the proposed area of the replenishment and detailed the difficulties which Southend Community Council had encountered in endeavouring
to get Scottish Water to attend their meetings to clarify this. She
highlighted an individual case whereby the householder had experienced
considerable difficulty with their water supply.
Action: The Chair stated that contact would
be made with Scottish Water to ask them to make contact with either the Convener,
John Bakes or the Secretary, Margaret MacDowall.

Jane McKenzie had sent her apologies and had provided a short written report for attendees.
ODOUR ISSUE – TARBERT
Tarbert treatment works is operating effectively. The odour issue was caused whilst tanks at the works were being emptied.
After discussion with Cllr Horn, it had been agreed that future maintenance/tank emptying would be publicised in advance so that the local community is aware that work is being carried out and that some odour may be experienced for known short periods.
The network service operator has visited site on a couple of occasions and has not been able to find any odour issue. However, Scottish Water will continue to monitor this and would ask that when this occurs it is logged with the Scottish Water call centre for investigation.
BURST WATER MAINS
SOUTHEND
The frequency of bursts does not meet the criteria for mains renewal. However, Scottish Water will continue to monitor this over the coming months.
