There was no update provided. However, the Chair informed the group that there was large proportion of steel to be delivered and this would possibly impact onto local traffic. Jim Martin affirmed that this was the case and detailed instances of recent traffic being gridlocked in the centre of Campbeltown. The Chair sympathised; however he alluded to the overall benefit to the local community.

David Roger reported that the new factory was trading well and the order books are extremely healthy. It was hoped that the company would be bidding for bigger off-shore project work.
John Bakes enquired if relevant lay-bys would be adapted to encompass transport carrying the large output from the factory. David Roger replied that road widening would be undertaken to account for the wide loads.

Alan Reid MP reported on a meeting held between Scottish Government and Defence Estates. Discussions were ongoing, but negotiations were constructive and it was hoped to reach a resolution in the near future. Scottish Water had compiled a report which proposed that they take over the water supply. If agreed this would afford local residents the opportunity to connect to the mains water supply.
