Fyne Wines

How Business Gateway can help you set up and develop your own business.

Owner raises glass to new website

A new website with tips and recommendations on buying wine has been launched by Lochgilphead’s independent wine retailer, Fyne Wines.

Stuart Campbell, 29, opened Fyne Wines in November last year and after receiving advice and support from Argyll and Bute Council’s Business Gateway, created his website, where he not only shares his personal recommendations, but also highlights the shop’s deals of the week.

Stuart, who runs wine tasting events at the shop on Lorne Street, hopes that over the next year he can begin selling his wines, beers and spirits online.

Stuart said: “The shop is going really well and people keep telling me they are really glad I opened when I did as they were missing having a wine shop in the town. I’ve been trying to offer something a bit different but affordable, such as drinks from regions like Romania and Hungary. I’ve found some delicious wines that aren’t well known and hope to continue this.

“I attended a Business Gateway workshop on building your own website which has allowed me to have an online presence. I picked up valuable skills in website development and also in social media, which I hope will have a long term, positive effect on my business. Eventually, I hope to sell online which will increase my customer base and allow me to expand.”

Barbara Halliday, Business Adviser, Business Gateway said: “Stuart has taken advantage of a variety of our services including one-to-one advisory support and attending our free workshops. I  look forward to supporting him as he develops his business further.”
