Demonstration Project
Harnessing the Potential of the Third Sector to Help Achieve Council Objectives
This page contains information about the Demonstration Project - the work that Argyll and Bute Council is under-taking to help develop and maintain sustainable communities, working jointly with community, voluntary and social enterprise organisations, collectively known as the Third Sector.
Introduction
Last year Argyll and Bute Council and it's partners joined forces to improve access to information and to break down any barriers to voluntary and community groups, collectively known as the Third Sector, in accessing services and getting support. We encouraged as many people as possible from the Third Sector to have their say and share views about the services and support they receive from Argyll and Bute Council. Between May and the end of July 2009 we ran workshop sessions, events and online information on the following topics; funding, assets, procurement and skills and training. Thank you for your input – the final report approved by a Board of representatives from Council, Community Planning and the Third Sector, is now available for you to download.

What are we going to do now?
We will continue to work with our partners to implement the recommendations for the Demonstration Project as described in the reports. Some of these recommendations we have started, others still need to be progressed. To help us along the way we have an Action Plan and we'll monitor this with our partners to make sure we are heading in the right direction. We will share our learning with out Community Planning Partners such as NHS Highland, and encourage them to work jointly with us in particular on training and consultation. In addition, we will share our learning with a wider community of interested people and organisations, helped by our colleagues in Carnegie UK Trust. Above all, we will continue to work with our Third Sector Partners to improve how we do business. If you have any comments on how we can improve then do let us know, either by getting in touch with us at the Council, or by contacting the Third Sector Partnership who are your Third Sector Representatives. Their details can be found at www.argyllcommunities.org.
