December By-Elections

By-Elections were held in Decemer for the following Community Councils as they had vacancies and were seeking nominations to fill these:

Bute and Cowal
Lochgoil AA78

Helensburgh and Lomond
Rhu and Shandon AD01, AD07

Mid Argyll, Kintyre and the Islands
The Laggan AA02
Colonsay AA21
Lochgilphead AA27

September By-Elections

Uncontested Community Councils
The closing date for nominations was Thursday 18 August.  If a Community Council received less nominations than there were vacancies a poll (voting) does not need to take place.  The Notice of Uncontested Election lists all the Community Councils and candidates for whom polling does not need to take place.  On 22 September these candidates formally became Community Councillors for their local Community Council. 

Contested Community Council - voting required
Kilmun Community Council had one vacancy.  As four candidates stood for this seat there was a contest.  This was an all postal ballot, with postal ballot papers issued to voters within the Kilmun Community Council area from Monday 12 September.  Election day was the 22nd September.
