Argyll and Bute Child Protection Committee is committed to the continuous development and training of staff for whom child protection is part of their function
Argyll and Bute Child Protection Committee is committed to supporting staff through training, networking and information exchange and to promote the development of a common understanding and sharing of values and experience between agencies and professional groups working with children, young people and their families
Argyll and Bute Child Protection Committee Training sub-group have a range of multi-agency courses offered free to all participating services who work with children. The multi-agency training on offer provides staff from all agencies the opportunity to meet, share experiences and train together jointly, pooling resources, reflecting best practice and reinforcing the standalone training already undertaken in Argyll and Bute in child protection procedures and guidance.
In addition, participating agencies have identified single agency training requirements for all staff and delivery of necessary training.

Applying to attend a training course:
The application process for training events is different dependant on who is running the course; for ease of use all training events listed on the training calendar have been colour-coded as follows:
‘Yellow’ - Single Agency run course; apply using your own agencies procedures
‘Green’ - External Agency run course, please contact agency direct for further course information, costs and application process

What course would be most suitable for me?
Argyll and Bute has adopted a 4 tiered approach to child protection training with basic awareness training at the first tier and more specialized training sitting in the final tier

Child Protection Statement: The welfare of children is considered paramount therefore any information obtained during training courses which indicates that a child may be at risk will require the training officer to take action to ensure the safety of the child is assured

Application Process
The CPC application process should only be used for training events being run by the CPC training sub-committee. It has been designed to help you identify which type and level of course you should be attending, to assess the benefits you have gained from attending training events and includes a downloadable Application Form for applying to attend a CPC training event. It has been designed as a 4 step process and you are advised to work through all 4 steps.
