Within Salen Primary school there is a welcoming ethos based on a sound partnership between staff and parents. All children are encouraged to develop to their full potential.
The school, which is situated in the village of Salen, is 11 miles north west of the main ferry terminus at Craignure and is on the main road to Tobermory. Regular Caledonian MacBrayne ferry sailings operate from Mull at Craignure to Oban, Tobermory to Kilchchoan, and from Fishnish to Lochaline. It has good rail and road links to Glasgow and Inverness.
The single story building, which was built in 1984 is semi-open plan in design. Two additional, spacious classrooms were completed in 2002. The school’s catchment area covers a broad region of the Island as, in addition to the mainstream classes, Salen Primary houses the Islands Gaelic Medium unit.
HM Inspectorate of Education (HMIE) inspects and reports on the quality of education in pre-school centres, primary schools, secondary schools, special schools, community learning and development services, colleges, and residential educational provision.
