Study into Cuan Sound Transport Links

At the request of the Scottish Government, Argyll and Bute Council is to carry out a study into the transport links at Cuan Sound, which connects the Island of Luing, by Oban, to the mainland. It will look at the existing transport links and problems in this area, and look to come up with options for improvement.

The study will be funded by the Scottish Government, Argyll and the Islands Enterprise, and Argyll and Bute Council.

The Scottish Transport Appraisal Guide (STAG) is a document produced by the Scottish Executive to aid planners and decision-makers in the development of transport policies, plans and programmes, and this study will follow these guidelines.

Following the tender process, the Council have appointed Atkins to carry out this STAG appraisal for the Cuan Sound Transport Links. Throughout the process we will be consulting with locals, businesses and other interested parties.

The study wil be split into 3 stages, with consultation with the public during the first two stages, and it is estimated that it will take around 7 months to complete. We will keep you up to date throughout the process.

The Project Officer within the Council is Peter Ward and he can be contacted as follows:
