Council tenants across Argyll and Bute can now find out all they need to know about proposals to transfer Council housing in Argyll and Bute to Argyll Community Housing Association (ACHA) through the organisation’s new website, www.acha.co.uk

The ACHA site, which was launched in Inveraray by members of ACHA’s shadow management committee, contains information about the background to transfer, how tenants can become involved in ACHA’s decision making, and details of improvements to services such as repairs. The website also provides tenants with access to newsletters and information leaflets as well as an idea of the transfer timetable ahead of a ballot of all tenants, expected later in the year.

Norman Beaton, chairman of ACHA, said, “The website is an important tool in allowing tenants access to transfer information. More information will be posted on the site as plans progress and if the ballot is positive later this year then it will contain more details for existing tenants and new tenants alike. We will post information on aspects of ACHA’s proposals such as the new build programme that will deliver new housing across Argyll and Bute as well as details of job opportunities within the organisation.

“We recognise that not all tenants have access to the internet, that is why we are continuing to produce newsletters and tenants information leaflets, but I would urge all tenants who can visit the site to do so to find out more about the organisation.”

The ACHA website gives tenants a further opportunity to find out more information about transfer. It builds on ACHA’s success so far in direct tenant consultation through a series of roadshows and a door-knocking exercise as well as through a series of tenant information leaflets and newsletters. From the tenant consultation work carried out so far a strong level of support for transfer has emerged, as has a demand for improved housing services. Following transfer ACHA is planning improvements to current services with particular emphasis on a vastly improved repairs service.
