Michael Russell MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning, will be making a fact finding visit to Auchindrain Township Open Air Museum on Thursday morning (July 8).

Mr. Russell, who has had a lifelong interest in Scotland’s heritage, will discuss the recent educational work which has been done at the museum - in particular, the successful partnership between the Auchindrain Trust and Argyll and Bute Council which is delivering the Crofting Connections Project to primary schools in Mid-Argyll.

Councillor Alison Hay, Convener of the Trust, said “We are delighted to be welcoming the minister to Auchindrain. Our site has a unique place in Scotland’s history and we are pleased to have a chance to show the Minister the good work we are doing with schools, in the community and to develop tourism”.

Auchindrain brings an historic rural township back to life. Visitors step back in time to witness how the local community lived and worked. The original village buildings are furnished and give a fascinating glimpse into the lives of the people who once lived in the township.
