Well, not exactly. But Argyll and Bute Council is offering someone the unique opportunity to monitor shellfish on the island of Colonsay.

The post of Sampling Officer is a part time position which requires a flexible approach to work, as the successful applicant will have their working time dictated by the island’s tides.

The job will involve collecting samples not only of shellfish but also seawater and other information which is important to monitoring the water quality and shellfish activity on the island.

It would ideally suit someone who is looking for a challenge, who wants to work outdoors for four hours a week and to do a job which will make a real difference to the island’s shellfish industry – and in ensuring and promoting the quality of the food from the Argyll islands.

Full details of the post can be found on the Council’s website at https://www.abcvms.info/Vacancy-Details.aspx?vacancyId=2685 or from Kirstin Thompson on 01546 604131 quoting post number CPL23251T/E.

To paraphrase from the BBC television programme “The Apprentice” – the Council’s search to find a Sampling Officer is on....
