Basic Employment Training (BET)
The BET programme of delivery in relation to “Soft Skills” is designed to raise personal development and self-awareness, enabling participants to enhance their chances of gaining permanent employment. This is provided through individual and group work, team building exercises and a series of voluntary placements, all designed to provide the necessary skills required to re-enter the job market.

Argyll and Bute Employability Team seeks employers who can help us to help our customers gain valuable work experience. A placement in a real work setting helps someone who has either never been in work or who has been out of work for a while to build confidence.

Our aim is to assist people excluded from the labour market to gain skills and experience to enable them to get and keep a job. We also work closely with employers to find out what skills and specialised training would assist their businesses to be sustained and grown, assisting unemployed clients to become potential employees.

Who Are We? The Employability Team operates as a not for profit organisation within Argyll and Bute Council's Development Services Department. We are a team of 36 dedicated individuals whose aim is to help and support people back into employment. As contracted Providers, through the national Government’s New Deal initiative, we do this inclusively through support, education, training and work experience for our customers who find themselves in the unfortunate position of being long term unemployed.
