Hermitage Primary School
East Argyle Street
Hermitage is one of four primary schools in Helensburgh administered by the local authority. It is a non-denominational co-educational school covering all stages of Primary 1 to 7.
The main part of the building was completed in 1974 on the site of the former Hermitage Academy. It is built to a semi-open plan design with classrooms opening onto project areas. There is an assembly/gym/dining hall with stage and a technology room. In addition the former primary building is used as an annexe and currently houses primary seven classes and the ground floor hall where music and drama is taught to all classes.
The present roll of the school is 360.
Hermitage Primary school is a happy establishment and all members of the community work well together to provide the children with the best possible educational experience.
HM Inspectorate of Education (HMIE) inspects and reports on the quality of education in pre-school centres, primary schools, secondary schools, special schools, community learning and development services, colleges, and residential educational provision.
You can read and download any inspection reports for this school, and find out more about the inspection process, on the HM Inspectorate of Education website.
