About our School : Kilchrenan Primary School serves the rural communities of Kilchrenan and Dalavich. It is situated in the village of Kilchrenan on Loch Aweside and boasts a delightful view over the surrounding countryside. Within the school there is a welcoming ethos based on a sound partnership between staff, parents, pupils and members of the local community. The children are encouraged to be supportive and caring and to take a pride in their school. The school building, which is over 100 years old, comprises two classrooms and a smaller room which is used for storage and teaching smaller groups. There is a library/ quiet room between the main school building and the school house and a kitchen from which the lunches are served. The external grounds provide a generous playground area having both grassy and tarmaced areas. The curriculum is matched to the programmes of study as laid out in the 5 – 14 guidelines and account is taken of the individual needs of the children. We use a variety of resources, and teaching and learning styles, to ensure that pupils are given a broad and balanced curriculum. There is a very active P.T.A. and School Board, and the children take part in the decision making within the school through their School Council. We have strong links with the community and events such as school concerts, Coffee Mornings etc are well supported.
