About our School : Garelochhead Primary School is situated within the grounds of Bendarroch Park in the centre of the village. The catchment area stretches from Shandon to Rahane on the Gareloch and as far as Strone Mallon on Loch Long. The village of Portincaple also lies within our catchment. The school is non denominational,co-educational and takes boys and girls from primary 1 to primary 7. Following completion of primary education, pupils normally transfer to the secondary school in Helensburgh, Hermitage Academy. Our aim is to provide a sound and general education for our pupils, fostering in them respect for others and for the community in which they live. Pupils are encouraged to give of their best and work towards raising standards whenever possible. We aim to offer a welcoming environment in which to provide each child with the stimulation and security to promote effective learning. We hope to achieve these aims by providing; a balanced curriculum a variety of learning experiences effective learning leading to progression self discipline leading to responsibility for one’s own learning. the promotion of good citizenship. the promotion of an awareness of the responsibilities of living in a multi-cultural society.
