About our School : Achaleven Primary School, in Connel, is a non-denominational school situated on the main A85 Glasgow to Oban road, by the Connel Bridge. The school serves the village of Connel and its surrounding area from Achnacloich in the east to Dunstaffnage House in the west. The main accommodation, which is over 100 years old, contains two classrooms, toilets, staffroom, office, two resource storage areas, and display areas. There is a detached annexe, which is used as a third classroom and a dining room where School meals are served. Pupils have access to either a grass or a tarmac play area. The school, which is well supported by the whole community, is well resourced in all areas of the curriculum. Children come to Achaleven from various Pre 5 establishments. There are strong links with our Pre 5 establishments and our local Secondary School. Parents play a crucial role in the education of their children and at Achaleven Primary there is a long standing, but ever developing sense of partnership. There are opportunities throughout the year for maintaining home-school links in a variety of formal and informal ways. The School Board and the P.T.A. are most supportive and add hugely to the life of the school.
