Colgrain Primary School

Within Colgrain Primary School there is a welcoming ethos based on a sound partnership between staff, parents and carers and pupils. Each child is encouraged to develop their full potential.

The school is situated in the east of the town of Helensburgh which has good road and rail links to Glasgow and the central belt of Scotland. The single-story building, which was opened in 1973, is semi-open plan in design. The building is well maintained and provides attractive accommodation for our primary school, our pre-5 unit, the Community Education Department and the Area Education Office. The building has facilities for pupils and visitors with special access needs. The school’s catchment area includes private and local authority housing and quarters for Naval families.

The school and pre-5 unit cater for children from the age of 3 through to 12 years. The overall capacity of the primary school is 297. The school role is subject to fluctuation due mainly to the movement of Naval families. Our pre-5 unit offers 30 places each morning and afternoon giving a total capacity of 60.
