Rothesay Common Good Fund

Applicants are invited to apply to the Rothesay Common Good Fund to help finance local  ‘one  off projects’ which fit within the criteria of the fund .

The completed applications will be given consideration by local Members at quarterly meetings, which are scheduled for the following dates:-

  • Tues 5th Feb 2013
  • Tues 7th May 2013
  • Tues 6 August 2013
  • Tues 5th  Nov 2013

Applications should be received 2 weeks in advance of meetings.

Criteria

The Common Good Fund requires to be administered having regard to the interests of the inhabitants of the town of Rothesay. The Members of the Fund must be satisfied that disbursements meet this requirement and their decisions in this regard are full and final.

The Common Good Fund is not an alternative to mainstream Council Grants Schemes and applications to the Fund will only be considered once other sources of funding (where applicable) have been applied for and determined.

Normally the maximum grant is £1000 except in special circumstances.  The level of detail expected within your application will be relative to the size of grant requested.

Subject to 1 and 2 above, applications will be considered from voluntary bodies and charitable organisations for funding towards ‘one-off’ projects. Applications for routine operational costs / core funding will not normally be considered. Regular applications from organisations will only be considered where such applications form part of a defined development plan or growing project.

Applications will not normally be accepted in respect of projects on which work has already started, or in aid of expenditure towards which applicants have already made a commitment.

Applications relating to a wider area than that covered by the Fund will not normally be considered.

Applicants must enclose, along with the completed application form, the following information (where applicable):

  •  A copy of the most recent year’s accounts
  • Contractor’s estimates
  • A copy of the organisation’s constitution
  • Any planning or other consents (which must have been already obtained)

All applications for assistance will be published as part of the minute of the meeting at which the application is considered.  If there are any details in your application which you have a concern about entering the public domain then you is asked to contact the Area Governance Manager, in the first instance to discuss your concern prior to submitting the application.

Financial evidence of spend will be required by the end of the financial year.

The Fund meets on four occasions per year (as above) the deadline for receipt of applications will be 15th of the previous month.
