Borrow an eBook

New eBook service

Ebooks for librariesWe have launched a new eBook service, so that you can get the most out of your library service, wherever you live in Argyll and Bute

You can read eBooks from the library by downloading them onto your PC, Mac or portable eBook reader. For the moment this service is not compatible with Amazon’s Kindle, but we hope it will be in the near future.

How to borrow eBooks

Select your chosen title(s) by searching the library catalogue. (You will need your library card number and PIN number). Select ‘eBooks’ from the drop down selection labelled ‘Collection’. When you see something you would like to borrow click on the URL link under the book information and it will take you to our OverDrive pages which deal exclusively with our eBook collection.

Once you are in the OverDrive pages, in addition to our stock, you will have access to a large number of out of copyright titles.

If you prefer you can go directly to the OverDrive pages to search for ebooks.

Eligibility

To be eligible to use this service you must be over the age of 18 and permanently live, work or study in Argyll and Bute. You will need a library card and your PIN. If you’re not already a member you can join online.

If you are already a member but don’t know your PIN contact your local library.
