LAND USE DEMONSTRATION PROJECT DRAFT REPORT

“MAKING CONSERVATION SCHEMES WORK FOR YOU”

The Community Action for Biodiversity – Phase II project secured European ERDF and partner match funding to develop
and deliver three partner led demonstration projects focussing on the Land, Freshwater and Marine & Coastal sections
in the Argyll & Bute Local Biodiversity Action Plan (LBAP). It was intended that the projects should demonstrate good
biodiversity practice, whilst also providing an opportunity to learn from the planning, implementation and evaluation of a
project proposal from inception to completion.

This report is the final output from the Land Use Demonstration Project.  The Project was led by a Steering Group,
membership of which was made up of organisations and individuals working in the land based sectors.  Members had
experience of project development and delivery, with a particular interest in delivering a project with a biodiversity
focus in their specific field of expertise. The group chose a project that was inspired by the Argyll & Bute Local
Biodiversity Action Plan and that would engage with the agricultural community within the area.

One of the main objectives of the project was that it should leave a legacy for biodiversity, benefit the wider community
in Argyll & Bute and illustrate good practice. The aim of the Land Use Biodiversity Demonstration Project: ‘Making
 conservation schemes work for you’
was to evaluate past agri-environment schemes and to make recommendations
 for setting future regional priorities.
