Your Blue Bin for Paper and Card Recycling

What can you put in your blue bin?

Paper, Cardboard, Magazines, Newspapers, Yellow Pages/ Telephone Directories, unwanted mail, envelopes (without the windows), computer paper.

What can you put in the bag?

The bag is for recycling plastic and cans.

This includes plastic bottles made from different coloured plastics; for example empty milk cartons, drinks bottles and bottles that contained household cleaning products and beauty products.

We do not accept any other plastic for the following reasons

  • Yoghurt pots and other plastic containers are often made from different types of plastic to those used in plastic bottle manufacture. Many are made from polystyrene or a blend of different polymer types, of which there are over 50. These have a very different composition to plastic used for bottles, which makes recycling difficult.
  • The present re-processors engaged to recycle Fyne Futures plastic bottles are unable to accept mixed plastics. The income is re-invested back into the service to help fund collection. Fyne Futures are able to provide a cost effective service by focusing on plastic bottles only.

Other recycling facilities in the Bute area

If you have an item to recycle and want to find out where you can take it, or if you want general information and advice on recycling such as what kerbside facilities exist in your area, or where your nearest recycling facilities are, the Sort-It website can help you find all this information, and more, for the Argyll and Bute area.
