Argyll and Bute Council’s British Sign Language Plan 2024-2030

Are you a BSL user? Do you support anyone who uses BSL? Are you interested in how the council can support Deaf people within our area? If you have answered yes to any of these questions, we want to hear from you.

Argyll and Bute Council is putting together its new local British Sign Language plan (Argyll and Bute BSL Plan 2024-2030). We want your opinions about our draft plan.

About the plan

We are trying to balance the needs of BSL users with what is realistic for us to resource.

We have aligned our actions with the Scottish Government’s National BSL Plan (2023-2029). We are not trying to contribute to every one of the Scottish Government’s goals. The council is only one organisation. Other organisations, such as the NHS will contribute other actions.

About the consultation

This won’t be your only chance to comment on what we will do to deliver for our Deaf community. As you will see, one of the actions in this plan is to develop a more detailed implementation plan.

We also expect the plan to evolve over time as SG develops some of its own actions or as circumstances change.
